Our local council, the Western Los Angeles County Council, headquartered in Van Nuys, CA, serves thousands of youth and adult volunteers across 65% of LA County.
We offer multiple programs for young men and women ages 6-20.
ANTICIPATED START DATE:
AUGUST 1 ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT POSITION This position provides support for the council's field team, which provides service supporting volunteers in providing excellent programs to youth.
This will include ongoing projects, support of the department director, data entry, and customer service for our members.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Customer service for our main phone line, directing people towards the appropriate contact for their needs Main point-of-sale manager for a small supply of recognition items, including pricing updates and annual inventory Support for our team including report creation and management, data entry, and preparing promotional materials or mailings Management support to include scheduling appointments, answering calls, maintaining files, taking meeting notes, and preparing correspondence Support of our annual popcorn and camp card sales to include managing product inventory, generating packing slips/invoices, and recording payment Data entry of new paper membership applications and management of online membership database Processing of insurance certificates Keeping office supplies stocked and postage machine with funds Managing in-office support volunteers and interns as necessary Provide outstanding customer service to volunteers and staff members Other duties as needed DESIRED SKILLS High school diploma or equivalent required.
Additional education preferred Prior experience in an administrative office setting Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and internet applications as well as ability to pick up on technology changes quickly Ability to prioritize tasks, problem solve, and work independently Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated team-player Clear and professional communication skills in person, in writing and by telephone Confident and responsible with personal identifiable information Scouting knowledge a plus Spanish fluency preferred WHAT WE OFFER:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
